Job Requirements

  • Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Ability to stand and sit for 2 to 4 hours per day
  • Ability to bend and twist neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand movements with ability to make fast, simple movements
  • Precise coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Frequent foot movement
  • occasional squatting, crouching or sitting on heels
  • Occasional walking, bending, and twisting at waist
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs with maximum lift of 50 lbs
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Color perception and vision correctable to 20/30 and 20/100
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work independently and with guidance
  • Capable of performing varied tasks under changing conditions
  • Exposure to biological fluids and infectious organisms
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
  • Exposure to extreme cold conditions requiring personal protective equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
  • Current CPR certification
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to provide compassionate donor care
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control protocols

Job Duties

  • Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health and provide counseling regarding unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist in employee training
  • Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
