The opportunity at Arvum Senior Living is for a Celebrations Activities Coordinator position specifically designed for the Memory Care community. This individual plays a vital role in developing, planning, and coordinating lifestyle programs that elevate residents’ health, wellbeing, engagement, and personal growth. The role requires the coordination of a broad spectrum of activities, including physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual opportunities tailored for residents living with memory care needs. Reporting to the Director of Celebrations, the Coordinator is responsible for scheduling a variety of dementia-appropriate activities and life skills programs, ensuring they align with residents’ interests and promote meaningful engagement. Key responsibilities include organizing holiday and special event programming, recruiting and coordinating volunteers and service groups, and maintaining effective communication with residents’ families and external organizations.

The Coordinator oversees the preparation and distribution of event calendars, ensuring activities are fully communicated and implemented throughout the community. They actively engage residents by advising and motivating participation in individual and group activities, and they maintain records related to resident satisfaction and participation metrics. This role not only demands creativity and strong interpersonal skills but also requires compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations related to assisted living facilities. The job involves maintaining a public relations program to support activities and community relations, ensuring a vibrant and connected senior living environment.

Working in a climate-controlled indoor environment, the position includes physical activity such as standing, walking, and conducting low-impact aerobic exercises. Candidates must be capable of lifting and moving up to 60-70 pounds occasionally and be on their feet for extended periods. The role requires competencies in communicating with residents, volunteers, and families, as well as coordinating multifaceted activities that enhance quality of life. Job Requirements

  • Education at least associate degree preferred
  • three to five years experience in related field
  • ability to plan and conduct lifestyle and memory care activities
  • excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • ability to lift and move up to 60-70 pounds occasionally
  • ability to be on feet 2-6 hours per day
  • capability to perform low-impact aerobic exercises

  • work primarily indoors in a climate controlled setting

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Recreation, Education, Gerontology, Social Work, Adult Education or related field preferred
  • three to five years related experience
  • ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • strong communication skills
  • knowledge of dementia appropriate activities
  • experience with activity planning and coordination
  • ability to work well with seniors and families

Job Duties

  • Plans, schedules and conducts lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities for residents including dementia appropriate activities
  • plans appropriate programs for holidays and special events
  • recruits and develops additional resources such as volunteers and outside organizations
  • advises and motivates residents regarding individual and group activities
  • prepares and organizes a calendar of events and submits it for approval
  • assures new residents are acclimated and family communications are timely
  • addresses resident and other groups on common interest topics
  • maintains databases and prepares reports on resident participation and satisfaction
  • participates in community in-services
  • ensures compliance with federal, state and local assisted living regulations
  • plans and facilitates mixed group activities
  • develops daily displays of activities for communication centers
  • maintains a robust public relations program
  • performs other assigned duties
