Club Demonstration Services (CDS) is a leading event marketing company recognized as the preferred in-house event marketing provider for Costco. The role of Event Manager - Product Demonstration at CDS is vital in ensuring the success of in-store marketing initiatives. The Event Manager will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, and supervising part-time Product Demonstrators who perform live product presentations to Costco members. This position requires hands-on oversight of product preparation and presentation, including adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. The Event Manager will conduct training sessions to equip demonstrators with demonstration techniques and excellent customer service skills, ensuring impactful engagement with shoppers. Part of the role includes participating in grand openings of new Costco locations, providing event support that drives successful launches and marketing campaigns. Job Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- two to four years of related experience in retail, hospitality or food environments
- detail oriented with excellent leadership and communication skills
- proven ability to lead well performing teams
- ability to exercise independent judgement
- able to coach and counsel employees, take correct measures as needed
- flexibility and ability to work in a fast paced environment
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience
- bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in a client-side, branded, consumer-packaged goods company or a combination of supplier-side and client-side experience
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- ability to work independently and prioritize with minimal supervision
- supervising skills, including delegating responsibility, training and evaluating performance
- flexible and adaptable to change
- track record of building and maintaining customer/client relationships
- ability to direct, lead and develop people
- basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook and web browsers
- NEHA professional food handler certification required
Job Duties
- Recruit, train and hire part-time staff
- oversee product preparation and presentation, including food safety and sanitation
- train product demonstrators in demonstration preparation and excellent customer services
- communicate between multiple managers, vendors and demonstrators
- participate in new location grand openings as required
- direct all activities engaged in successful events, promotion and sales of vendor products
- communicate strategies and tactics to achieve sales, service and operational excellence
- support the maintenance and ongoing development of corporate governance framework, policies and procedures
- collaborate with the District Manager to evaluate various event performance metrics, including execution rates, sales performance, labor hours and operational costs and make adjustments as necessary
- achieve defined revenue and net income objectives through sales activation, strategy and expense management
- optimize customer satisfaction/loyalty through improved operations
