The CDL Route Driver position at Airgas in Louisville, KY, is critical to ensuring the safe transportation and delivery of compressed gas cylinders and other products. This role requires a high level of professionalism and adherence to safety protocols, particularly given the nature of hazardous materials involved. The driver is responsible for operating a Class B Hazmat vehicle, managing logistics, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining vehicle safety through rigorous inspections. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Class B CDL
- Must have Hazmat endorsement or be able to obtain the endorsement within 60 days of being hired
- Successful completion of Airgas background and motor vehicle check
- DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers required
- Ability to routinely lift 25 to 75 lbs and occasionally lift 76 to over 100 lbs
- Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures
- Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace
- Adherence to safety regulations and policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Forklift experience preferred
- Touch freight delivery experience preferred
Job Duties
- Operate Class B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hard goods along designated routes
- Collect empty cylinders from customers and address inquiries to ensure complete satisfaction
- Record all transactions accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures
- Handle the loading and unloading of all materials
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections noting any issues to ensure safety compliance and maintaining vehicle condition
- Maintain professional appearance and represent the company during all deliveries
