The role of a CDL Delivery Driver at FreshPoint involves running daily local routes with frequent stops to deliver food products efficiently and safely to various customer locations in the Avon area. With early morning start times between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM, drivers complete routes of around 10 hours, ensuring that they are home in time for dinner. The position requires physical endurance to handle products that may weigh up to 100 pounds, frequent lifting, bending, and the use of hand carts to transport products safely. Responsibilities also include verifying deliveries through proper documentation and managing any discrepancies in collaboration with management. Drivers are trained to comply rigorously with Department of Transportation regulations and company policies for vehicle safety and operational procedures. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid CDL-B license (CDL-A preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year route delivery driving experience
- Ability to lift heavy loads up to 100 pounds
- Capable of working early morning shifts
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to follow Department of Transportation regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school or GED or equivalent
- 1 year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck
- Ideal candidate has 1 - 2 years of route delivery experience
- Valid Commercial Driver's License - Class B (Class A preferred)
- Must be able to read and understand English
Job Duties
- Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects
- Runs routes efficiently - meeting or exceeding designated route times
- Unload product from the trailer, by hand or using a hand cart, and place it in designated customer storage areas
- Frequently lift, push, or move product that weighs 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds
- Frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and hand cart
- Constantly bend and twist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from trailer
- Verify delivery of items with the customer and obtain proper signatures
- Contact management for authorization when discrepancies on the invoice and communicate all errors/returns
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and Sysco policies and procedures
