Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group, is a broadline food distributor dedicated to serving a diverse range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on building close relationships with each customer through a knowledgeable team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and experts. They provide valuable advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. Performance Foodservice not only delivers high-quality food products but also strives to empower independent restaurant owners to achieve their business goals by offering exceptional support and resources.
The company is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive work environment characterized by a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect. Employees benefit from competitive pay and a robust benefits package, which includes health and wellness coverage from day one, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and various other perks. These offerings reflect the company’s dedication to employee well-being and professional growth.
The role of Shuttle Driver at Performance Foodservice is vital for ensuring the smooth operation of the food distribution system. Shuttle Drivers play a critical role in the supply chain by transporting empty trailers to warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to domicile or shuttle yards. This position requires a professional driver capable of operating tandem trailers, tractor-trailers, and straight trucks safely and efficiently on both intrastate and interstate routes. Drivers must adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to guarantee safe delivery and product integrity.
Shuttle Drivers are the face of the company to many customers, vendors, and co-workers, responsible for building lasting relationships through professional communication and exceptional service. The role involves conducting thorough safety inspections of tractors, trailers, and loads before and after trips, reporting any necessary repairs or safety issues immediately. Drivers follow predetermined route schedules and ensure all route paperwork is complete and available for each dispatch.
Additional responsibilities include performing hook and unhook procedures, parking tractor-trailers in designated zones, securing freight and equipment properly, managing returns and damaged goods, and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the vehicles and loading docks. Drivers also complete daily logs complying with federal, state, and company regulations, and assist with general upkeep around their work area.
Work schedules typically fall on Sunday through Thursday nights, with start times between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m., allowing adequate time to complete deliveries within designated schedules. The position offers competitive pay starting upwards of $324 per day, reflecting the importance and responsibility of the role.
Performance Foodservice values diversity and provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic. This commitment, alongside the provision of competitive compensation, benefits, and career growth opportunities, makes Performance Foodservice a distinguished employer within the food service distribution industry.
