Job Description

Dawn Foods is a renowned global leader in bakery manufacturing and ingredients distribution, dedicated to supporting bakery success worldwide. Founded as a family-owned company over 100 years ago, Dawn Foods prides itself on its deep commitments to its employees, customers, high-quality products, and core corporate values. The company has successfully built a reputation as the partner of choice for bakery businesses, providing not only premium bakery products but also meaningful partnerships, research-driven insights, and innovative solutions to help customers grow and thrive in a competitive market. With a lasting legacy and a forward-thinking approach, Dawn Foods seamlessly blends tradition with modern innovation, offering employees an inspiring and rewarding environment to contribute and grow.

The role of CDL Class A Driver at Dawn Foods is a crucial position that supports the company’s mission by ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of bakery products from distribution centers to customers. This full-time, benefits-eligible role involves operating tractor-trailer rigs to deliver products in a timely and professional manner. The driver is responsible for adhering to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including DOT compliance, while representing Dawn Foods in a friendly, competent, and professional way. Drivers not only transport products but also handle offloading duties, including breaking down product and shelving at some delivery sites, especially within direct store delivery (DSD) setups.

Dawn Foods offers competitive compensation with an hourly wage of $31.60 and a $10,000 signing bonus, reflecting the value the company places on its workforce. Employees enjoy industry-leading health insurance coverage from day one, 401(k) plans with company matching, paid time off, paid holidays, professional training including ride-along learning opportunities, and a supportive work culture centered around growth and development.

The typical work schedule for a CDL Class A Driver is Monday through Friday, averaging five days per week, with start times generally between 3:00 am and 5:00 am based on assigned routes. End times vary according to route completion, ranging from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Routes are designed to comply fully with DOT hours to ensure safety and regulatory adherence, and some weekend or overnight routes may be required based on business needs. Equipment used includes automatic transmission tractors, trailers equipped with liftgates to aid in unloading, and multi-temperature trailers to preserve product quality.

Physically, the role is demanding and requires abilities such as lifting over 50 pounds consistently during shifts, operating material handling equipment like electric pallet jacks and forklifts, and tolerating outdoor working conditions, which can involve exposure to dirt, weather extremes, and allergens common in food products. The company supports reasonable accommodations to enable all team members to thrive.

Overall, driving for Dawn Foods provides a unique opportunity to be part of a stable, family-oriented company that values safety, professionalism, and the growth of its employees. The role is perfect for those seeking a hands-on, rewarding career with strong support, competitive pay, and an inclusive, growth-minded culture.
