The CDL-A Delivery Driver role with Performance Foodservice is integral to the company’s mission of ensuring timely and safe delivery of food products across various regions. This is a full-time position offering competitive remuneration, averaging approximately $104,600 annually, with experienced drivers eligible for an additional $10,000 hiring bonus. Unique to this role is the advantage of being home daily while servicing all scheduled customers before the route ends, enhancing work-life balance and employee satisfaction.
In this role, drivers are not merely responsible for transporting goods; they act as the company's representative and build solid, long-term relationships with customers by providing exceptional service. The CDL-A driver operates tractor trailers or straight trucks according to DOT regulations on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, shuttle, overnight, and over-the-road (OTR) deliveries. Key responsibilities include performing stringent safety inspections, adhering to all DOT and company driving policies, managing freight loading and unloading processes, and maintaining accurate delivery documentation.
The job requires excellent communication skills as drivers must interact courteously and efficiently with customers, vendors, and co-workers to facilitate smooth transactions and problem solve promptly. In addition to driving, responsibilities extend to securing loads, handling returns, and ensuring cleanliness and orderliness of equipment and trailers. CDL-A drivers maintain detailed logs compliant with federal and state regulations and contribute to a safe working environment by promptly reporting safety hazards or required repairs.
Performance Foodservice invests in its drivers’ success by providing ongoing training and a workplace culture that values contributions at every level. The CDL-A truck driver position embodies essential work that supports the country’s food distribution system, combining job stability, competitive earnings, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community's well-being through reliable and professional service.
