These include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company stands out by fostering strong, collaborative relationships with its clientele, built through a team of dedicated sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and specialists who provide expert advice on menu development, product selection, operational improvements, and strategies to enhance business success. At Performance Foodservice, the commitment goes beyond simply delivering quality food products; the team strives to empower independent restaurant owners to achieve their business aspirations and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

This role pertains to an entry-level Driver Trainee position at Performance Foodservice, offering an average annual salary of $90,000, with the employment schedule set Monday through Friday with early morning start times. The company offers competitive pay along with an attractive benefits package, including Day 1 health and wellness benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. There is a clear focus on a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment, recognizing and rewarding employee contributions diligently.

The Driver Trainee role is designed to train individuals in the experience and skills required to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks in both intrastate and interstate environments. Safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) policies and company regulations are paramount, and the trainee must consistently maintain these standards while performing duties. The trainee will work closely with a driver trainer, assisting on deliveries, learning operational routes, and ensuring proper handling, loading, unloading, and documentation of freight. This role demands strong teamwork, professional interaction with customers and co-workers, and a commitment to service excellence. The trainee is expected to adhere strictly to all work methods and customer service practices established by the company.

Beyond the driving element, responsibilities include conducting thorough safety inspections before and after trips, securing loads properly, managing delivery paperwork accurately, collecting payments when necessary, and handling customer returns. Physical demands include hand-lifting products weighing generally between 10 to 35 pounds, with occasional weights up to 60-90 pounds, and proficient use of equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates. Performance Foodservice also emphasizes operational cleanliness and organization, requiring general housekeeping of vehicles and loading areas.
