This role as a CDL-A Driver with Performance Foodservice offers an exciting opportunity to be at the front lines of this essential operation. As a CDL-A Driver, you will operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks across local, intrastate, and interstate routes including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop assignments. Your core responsibility is to ensure that food and related products are delivered promptly, safely, and in excellent condition, meeting strict Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company standards. Beyond driving, you are the face of the company, building and maintaining customer relationships through professional communication and high-quality service.
Your duties will include performing safety inspections before and after trips, properly securing and loading freight, driving according to planned schedules, unloading and verifying deliveries, completing all required paperwork accurately, and maintaining clean and orderly equipment and work areas. This role demands attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the physical ability to handle freight that ranges between 10 to 90 pounds depending on the location.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 12+ months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Must be 21 years or older
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or possess valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move and stack product cases ranging between 10-90 pounds

Job Duties
- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
- Functions as a team member within the department and organization and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company
- Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Performs count check of items and check customer invoices of loaded products
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route schedules
- Unloads products from trailer and transports them into designated customer storage areas
- Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- Collects money where required
- Loads customer returns on to trailer and secures trailer doors
- Completes all required paperwork accurately and legibly
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
- Secures equipment and completes necessary paperwork at the end of shift
- Reports all safety issues and repairs required
