Job Description
Performance Foodservice (PFG) is a leading broadline food distributor, deeply embedded in supporting a diverse range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company distinguishes itself by fostering strong relationships with its clients through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and specialists who offer valuable advice in improving operational efficiency, menu development, product selection, and strategic business growth. PFG not only delivers high-quality food products but also partners with independent restaurant owners and food service providers to help bring their culinary visions and business goals to life. With an emphasis on a customer-first approach and comprehensive support, Performance Foodservice is well recognized for its commitment to the foodservice industry and its essential role in America’s food supply chain.
This position is for a CDL-A Driver, a critical role within Performance Foodservice’s delivery team that directly supports the distribution of food and food-related products. As the face of the company, CDL-A Drivers are responsible for ensuring that customers receive their orders accurately, safely, and on time. The role requires driving tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. This multifaceted position demands adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety guidelines, underscoring a commitment to high safety and operational standards.
CDL-A Drivers will engage in various responsibilities such as conducting mandatory pre- and post-trip safety inspections of vehicles and trailers, ensuring all freight is properly loaded and secured, and maintaining accurate documentation related to transportation and deliveries. Beyond the logistics of transportation, Drivers interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, fostering positive relationships and enhancing the customer experience. They are also tasked with managing product unloading and placement in designated storage areas, handling paperwork accurately, collecting payments when necessary, and completing daily hours-of-service records to comply with federal and state regulations.
The position operates within a schedule of Monday through Friday with dispatch times between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., offering competitive pay in the range of $85,000 to $100,000 annually. The company offers an excellent benefits package from Day 1, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K with employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and other perks that foster growth and recognition within a safe and inclusive working environment. Performance Foodservice values team members who contribute as part of the whole organization, offering opportunities for advancement while performing essential work that supports the country’s food distribution system. The role is designed for motivated, safety-conscious professionals committed to quality customer service and operational excellence.
