Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline distributor specializing in delivering high-quality food products to a diverse range of customers. These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on building strong relationships with clients through a dedicated team that includes sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts. These professionals work closely with customers to provide valuable advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and overall operational strategies. This commitment goes beyond simply delivering food—it supports independent restaurant owners and businesses in achieving their dreams and ensuring customer satisfaction at every step. Performance Foodservice combines a rich heritage in food distribution with a customer-centric approach, making it a trusted name in the industry.
The role of a CDL-A Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is an essential and rewarding position within the company’s supply chain operations. Delivery drivers serve as the critical link between the company and its customers, ensuring that food and food-related products are delivered safely, on time, and in excellent condition. This position offers a competitive daily guarantee pay of $225 or component pay based on cases, miles, and stops—whichever is greater—leading to an average driver salary of $60,000 per year. Drivers enjoy a home nightly schedule with layover routes up to two nights per week and a five-day working week from Monday to Saturday, with early morning dispatches. These schedule arrangements support a healthy work-life balance.
The CDL-A Delivery Driver will operate tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate local routes, over-the-road (OTR) deliveries, shuttle, and overnight drive and drop routes. They are responsible for loading, transporting, and unloading food products accurately while adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drivers are the face of the company, interacting directly with customers, vendors, and coworkers professionally and representing Performance Foodservice’s commitment to quality and service excellence. This role requires vigilance in safety inspections, documentation, and delivery protocols, as well as the ability to handle equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates for product handling.
Beyond routine driving duties, CDL-A Delivery Drivers are integral team members who contribute to a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture that rewards and recognizes outstanding performance. The company supports driver growth through various benefits, including Day 1 Health and Wellness Benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and opportunities for career advancement within the food distribution sector. This position combines essential service with strong company support, making it ideal for motivated individuals looking to build a stable career in foodservice logistics and transportation.
