This job opening is for an entry-level driver trainee role that offers a unique opportunity to embark on a career within the transportation and logistics sector, specifically focusing on food and related product delivery. The position involves learning to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks for intrastate and interstate deliveries on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, or overnight routes. The driver trainee will be part of a team dedicated to maintaining the high standards of safety and customer service that define PFG Customized Distribution. With a four-night workweek schedule and dispatch times between 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., the position offers a competitive weekly minimum guarantee of $1,450, translating to an annual salary range of $80,000 to $90,000. As a driver trainee, individuals will complete the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, which equips them with the essential skills and certifications needed to succeed in a driving career with PFG. Trainees will ride with experienced drivers, assist in executing delivery routes, and learn procedures for safety inspections, proper loading and unloading, customer service, and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The role requires strong attention to detail for paperwork accuracy, safety checks, and maintaining vehicle and trailer security.

The position focuses heavily on teamwork and communication, as trainees must interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, helping to uphold the company’s culture of respect and mutual recognition. Physical fitness is important because the job involves handling freight and equipment, including lifting product cases weighing 60 to 90 pounds, using hand trucks and lift gates safely throughout the shift.
