Job Description
PFG Customized Distribution is a leading foodservice company specializing in providing customized delivery solutions for some of America's most recognized national chain restaurants, including Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday's, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. The company offers centralized account coordination and tailored product lines to meet the unique needs of its clients. Operating across the United States and extending its services internationally to more than 40 countries, PFG Customized Distribution prides itself on delivering exceptional service within the food distribution sector. With a strong commitment to safety, inclusivity, and employee development, the company fosters a healthy workplace culture supported by competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.
This entry-level Driver Trainee position is designed for individuals seeking to start a career in commercial driving. The role involves learning to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks for intrastate and interstate deliveries, focusing on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. Drivers are responsible for delivering various food and food-related products safely and efficiently while adhering to company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Team driving is emphasized to enhance safety and improve delivery performance. The position offers a guaranteed minimum weekly pay of $1,350, with an average annual salary ranging between $70,000 and $80,000. Schedules are typically Monday through Friday, with dispatch times between 11 pm and 2 am, ensuring a balanced work-life arrangement.
The Driver Trainee will participate in PFG's Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, receiving hands-on instruction and mentorship to develop safe and effective driving practices. Responsibilities include conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, securing freight, adhering to DOT guidelines, interacting professionally with customers, and completing all necessary documentation accurately. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to manually lift and handle product cases weighing between 10 and 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. This opportunity offers substantial growth prospects in a critical industry that supports America’s food distribution. The company emphasizes safety, respect, and recognition within its inclusive work culture, along with providing employees access to health and wellness programs from day one, stock purchase options, 401K matching, education assistance, and paid time off.
PFG Customized Distribution is committed to equal employment opportunity and values diversity across its workforce. The company provides a supportive environment where all employees are respected and empowered to succeed. Those joining the team benefit from strong onboarding, on-the-job training, and the possibility of advancing their careers within a leading organization in the food logistics sector. This position is ideal for candidates who are legally licensed, motivated to learn, and eager to contribute to an essential service that helps keep America's food supply moving efficiently and safely.
