The role being offered is for a Commercial Tractor Trailer Driver who will be responsible for the transportation and delivery of products from the warehouse to customer sites. This is a pivotal position within the operations team, requiring a safety-conscious and customer-oriented individual to manage the duties of driving, unloading, and ensuring high-quality service throughout the delivery process. The driver will be tasked with following assigned routes to ensure timely delivery, adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, completing required documentation accurately, and maintaining communication with management. The position demands physical capability to handle product loading and unloading, often in varying weather conditions, and requires a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License. The driver must be able to operate a variety of equipment including hand carts, pallets, and load bars effectively and safely.

Additional responsibilities include handling returned or damaged goods, ensuring sanitary conditions of the tractor and trailer, and maintaining compliance with food safety standards to prevent contamination. The driver is also expected to build and maintain positive customer relationships by providing courteous and clear communication. The role often requires working overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime to meet customer needs and maintain operational flow. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • one year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred
  • completion of a tractor trailer driving school accepted in lieu of diploma
  • valid Class B Commercial Driver's License
  • ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • must be insurable to operate company vehicle
  • ability to drive a Class B unit in diverse traffic and weather conditions
  • physical ability to lift and move heavy products up to 50 pounds and push/pull carts up to 350 pounds
  • ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to comply with DOT regulations and company safety policies
  • strong communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent degree or completion of tractor trailer driving school
  • minimum one year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred
  • ability to read and speak English sufficiently to communicate with the public and understand traffic signs and regulations
  • valid Class B Commercial Driver's License
  • knowledge of DOT regulations and Hazmat guidelines
  • strong driving skills over long distances and varied terrains
  • effective customer communication and problem-solving skills
  • ability to operate straight trucks, onboard computers, and hand carts
  • basic math skills
  • ability to plan and organize work independently

Job Duties

  • Safely transport product from the warehouse to the customer location on assigned routes
  • unload product from trailer by hand or hand cart in all weather conditions
  • pick up, load and unload damaged goods and customer returns, transporting them back to the warehouse
  • complete all required paperwork accurately and timely according to company and government guidelines
  • ensure food safety protocols are maintained, including proper vehicle temperature control and sanitary conditions
  • follow preferred work methods and immediately report unsafe conditions to management
  • maintain and safely operate all assigned equipment such as hand carts, pallets, and load bars
  • develop good customer relationships through excellent and courteous service
  • communicate with management about route deviations, loading issues, or product concerns
  • transport product from backhauls and line hauls according to company standards
  • work assigned schedule including overtime, weekends, and holidays as necessary
  • perform any other duties as assigned by management
