Job Description
US1107 FreshPoint Dallas, Inc. is a part of Sysco, the global leader in foodservice distribution. Sysco operates approximately 333 distribution facilities worldwide and serves more than 700,000 customer locations. With a workforce of over 71,000 employees and a fleet of more than 13,000 vehicles, Sysco is committed to providing high-quality products and exceptional service within the foodservice industry. This particular branch, FreshPoint Dallas, is focused on delivering fresh produce and other essential products to customers in the Dallas area, supporting restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and other foodservice establishments.
The role available is that of a Delivery Driver, which operates within the transportation and logistics sector of the company. The job is designed for individuals who are dedicated to efficient and safe delivery of goods to various customer locations with no designated sales territory and zero travel percentage beyond the assigned route. Drivers follow daily routes with frequent stops and are responsible for loading and unloading products in a timely and organized manner. The position offers a pay rate of $20.00 per hour, with pay factors such as skills, experience, and work location influencing the final compensation. Employment is typically full-time, operating in a customer-facing capacity where professionalism and strong interpersonal skills are essential.
In this role, drivers will work away from the operating company site at a location closer to their customer marketplace to optimize route efficiency. Responsibilities include adhering to a cross-dock model by loading trucks from nightly deliveries at a designated dock and returning empty trucks to the assigned lot once routes are complete. Drivers assist with loading and palletizing products as required and must comply with safety regulations including pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections per Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines and company policies.
Drivers are expected to provide outstanding customer service by verifying delivered items, obtaining signatures, addressing customer concerns professionally, and liaising directly with management regarding discrepancies or errors in invoices. They must follow written safety rules and operate company vehicles responsibly. Physical demands are significant and include frequent lifting of products weighing up to 75 pounds, maneuvering products up ramps, stairs, and docks, and maintaining stamina to bend, reach, and twist during loading and unloading processes.
The company values candidates with at least one year of route delivery experience, valid Commercial Driver's License Class B (Class A preferred), and proficiency in English for communication. Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, and good knowledge in inventory and product control techniques are essential. Candidates must demonstrate adaptability, customer relation skills, trust-building, follow-up, and clear communication abilities.
