The CDL Driver and Crane Operator role at SRS Building Products is a critical position responsible for the safe and efficient transport and delivery of building materials to various job sites within a 200-mile radius of the home branch, located in Syracuse, NY. This role requires expert operation of commercial vehicles, including trucks equipped with cranes and forklifts, adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and comprehensive pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections. The CDL Driver and Crane Operator ensures that deliveries are timely, accurate, and free from damage through careful coordination with rooftop loaders and thorough documentation, including photographic evidence of deliveries.

In addition to technical driving and material handling skills, the role involves significant customer interaction at job sites to provide excellent service, respond to delivery needs, and support overall customer satisfaction. Operators must perform routine maintenance checks on their vehicles and equipment, conduct job site safety assessments, and support warehouse and yard maintenance tasks when required. The position is physically demanding, requiring lifting up to 100 pounds, climbing ladders, working at heights, and enduring exposure to varying weather conditions, all while maintaining a strong focus on safety.

SRS values candidates with a valid CDL driver's license with an air brakes endorsement, experience operating cranes and forklifts, strong knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations, and a clean driving record. Preferred qualifications include professional crane operation experience, forklift certification, and proficiency in route planning and inventory management. The company offers competitive hourly wages ranging typically from $26.06 to $33.85 per hour, potential overtime, performance-based bonuses, and comprehensive benefits.
