Job Description

C&S Wholesale Grocers, LLC is a prominent industry leader in supply chain solutions and wholesale grocery distribution across the United States. Established in 1918, the company began as a supplier dedicated to independent grocery stores and has since expanded its influence significantly. Today, C&S Wholesale Grocers services a wide range of customers, including over 7,500 independent supermarkets, chain stores, military bases, and institutional clients. The company offers an extensive catalog of more than 100,000 different products, making it one of the largest grocery wholesalers in the country. Additionally, C&S operates and supports corporate grocery stores and assists independent franchisees under a chain-style model throughout key regions such as the Midwest, South, and Northeast. Recognized for its commitment to community engagement, C&S Wholesale Grocers actively supports causes that positively impact the communities it serves, underscoring its role as an engaged corporate citizen.

Working at C&S Wholesale Grocers means joining a company that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and exceptional customer service. The organization emphasizes a culture of continuous improvement and compliance with regulatory standards, which is reflected in its approach to employee training and development. The position of Professional Driver is central to C&S's mission to create the safest and most efficient fleet in the country. Newly hired drivers begin their careers by partnering with a Professional Driver Trainer (PDT), who provides comprehensive coaching on the 'C&S Way' — a holistic approach combining company procedures and regulatory requirements from the Department of Transportation (DOT). This training program equips drivers with the skills necessary to deliver products safely, maintain equipment properly, and uphold the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

The role of a Professional Driver involves operating commercial motor vehicles such as semi-trucks, eighteen-wheelers, and box trucks to transport and deliver grocery products, which may include ambient or temperature-sensitive items, to an average of 3 to 10 customer stops per day. Drivers are responsible for conducting thorough inspections of their equipment to ensure operational compliance with both company and DOT standards. This commitment to safety and regulatory adherence is essential to maintaining the company’s reputation and ensuring the seamless delivery of goods. Drivers must be capable of loading and unloading products efficiently while navigating various warehouse environments with temperature ranges from freezer conditions (-20°F to 0°F) to grocery warehouse temperatures (50°F to 90°F).

C&S Wholesale Grocers offers drivers a competitive package right from day one, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, a company-matched 401(k) plan, paid training, and weekly pay. Additional perks include paid time off (PTO), holiday pay, career progression opportunities, tuition reimbursement, employee health and wellness programs, and employee discounts. The company also provides an employee assistance program and a safety shoe purchase allowance to support driver wellbeing and safety. By joining C&S Wholesale Grocers as a Professional Driver, candidates become part of an organization dedicated to professional growth, operational excellence, and creating a safe, supportive work environment that values each team member’s contribution.
