Job Description
C&S Wholesale Grocers, LLC is a leading company in the supply chain solutions and wholesale grocery distribution sector in the United States. Established in 1918, the company has a long-standing legacy of servicing independent grocery stores, and it has grown to support a broad range of customers including over 7,500 independent supermarkets, chain stores, military bases, and institutions. The company offers an extensive product selection with more than 100,000 different items and operates corporate grocery stores while fostering franchisee networks across the Midwest, South, and Northeast regions. With a commitment to being an engaged corporate citizen, C&S Wholesale Grocers actively supports community initiatives and ensures safety, equality, and diversity across its workforce.
The role of a Professional Driver at C&S Wholesale Grocers is integral to the company's goal of creating the safest, most efficient, and service-focused fleet in the nation. As a Professional Driver, you will begin your career with a dedicated training period working alongside a Professional Driver Trainer (PDT). This training will immerse you in the 'C&S Way,' a comprehensive learning experience that emphasizes compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements set forth by the Department of Transportation (DOT). After successful completion of the training, you will be responsible for delivering high levels of customer satisfaction by managing deliveries of products in a timely, safe, and professional manner.
Professional Drivers operate commercial motor vehicles such as semi-trucks, eighteen-wheelers, and box trucks. Your responsibilities will include loading and unloading ambient or temperature-sensitive products at an average of 3 to 10 stops per day. It's crucial to perform daily inspections of vehicle and equipment to ensure operational compliance with all DOT and company policies. Attention to detail, safety adherence, and a commitment to quality service are paramount while on duty. The work environment includes exposure to various temperature-controlled settings including freezer stores (-20F to 0F), perishable warehouses (28F to 60F), and grocery warehouses (50F to 90F).
Employment with C&S Wholesale Grocers comes with multiple benefits from day one, such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, company-matched 401(k) plans, paid training, weekly pay, paid time off and holiday pay, tuition reimbursement, and wellness programs. Additionally, there are career progression opportunities and employee discounts available, as well as a company contribution toward safety shoes. This full-time position offers a highly competitive benefit package and a supportive working environment with a focus on safety, compliance, and employee well-being.
