Serving restaurants, healthcare and hospitality facilities, government operations, and more, US Foods delivers quality food products and related services essential to guiding the foodservice industry forward. Its vast network and resourceful approach make it a top choice for skilled professionals seeking long-term career opportunities in distribution and logistics.
The role of a US Foods Delivery Driver is critical in ensuring the seamless delivery of food products to customers, primarily within the foodservice sector. As a Delivery Driver, you will operate company trucks safely and efficiently, maintain punctuality to meet scheduled customer delivery times, and provide exceptional customer service to enhance customer satisfaction. Starting early in the morning, typically between 4am and 8am on weekdays, the job offers a stable Monday through Friday schedule with the benefit of returning home daily. This consistency makes it an attractive option for individuals seeking reliability and work-life balance.
Compensation for this role is competitive, with drivers earning upwards of $35.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, skills, and location. Beyond the hourly wage, additional earnings can be achieved through overtime pay, retention bonuses, and component pay. The company also extends a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, disability coverage, employee stock purchase plans, and life insurance, all designed to support employee wellbeing and financial security.
In this position, the primary responsibilities include driving delivery trucks to various customer locations while adhering to road safety and company policies. You will handle unloading merchandise using equipment such as pallet jacks and two-wheelers and ensure that products are placed correctly within customer storage areas. Accurate delivery verification through customer signatures is essential, as is the ability to manage collections and payments when necessary. Pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment are fundamental tasks ensuring vehicle safety and reliability. Physical demands of the job include lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling products ranging from 20 to over 80 pounds repeatedly during shifts, as well as enduring inclement weather conditions while making frequent stops.
Qualifying candidates must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid CDL Class A license with the required endorsements, along with DOT qualifications. Experience requirements vary from six months of commercial driving experience in any industry to three months within the food or beverage delivery sectors. Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles is preferred and may be mandatory in certain locations. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is also necessary for effective communication and compliance with traffic regulations. Registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is a federal requirement, providing real-time drug and alcohol violation information for commercial drivers, and must be completed before employment.
Joining US Foods means becoming part of a forward-thinking organization where integrity, reliability, and customer trust are paramount. The company encourages a collaborative spirit and values the contributions of its associates. If you are seeking a rewarding driving position with a reputable leader in the foodservice industry, this role offers excellent pay, benefits, and growth opportunities in a supportive environment dedicated to helping drivers thrive.
