Job Description
Ecolab is a global leader in water, hygiene, and infection prevention solutions and services. Known for its commitment to sustainability and innovation, Ecolab serves customers across a wide range of industries, including food and beverage processing, healthcare, hospitality, and industrial markets. The company combines its extensive expertise with cutting-edge technology to help businesses improve operational efficiency, ensure safety, and meet environmental goals. Ecolab's mission centers on delivering comprehensive solutions that protect people and vital resources around the world, building a healthier, safer, and more sustainable future. With a strong presence in over 170 countries, Ecolab fosters a culture of inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
The Customer Delivery Specialist position at Ecolab in Joliet, IL, is a critical role within Ecolab’s new expanded private fleet focused on safety and reliable delivery of bulk chemicals. This position involves operating Class A commercial tanker vehicles to deliver bulk and hazardous chemicals safely to customers within approximately a 500-mile radius from the Joliet plant location. The role emphasizes safety-first driving practices over congested city highways, rolling and mountainous terrain, and rural roads. This opportunity not only enables a seasoned Class A CDL driver to leverage their skills in handling tanker vehicles but also offers prospects for growth within a safety-centered fleet environment.
The selected candidate will be responsible for performing daily pre-trip inspections, maintaining vehicles in safe working order, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Department of Transportation (DOT) rules related to hazardous material transport. They will also use modern log carrying systems such as Samsara or paper logbooks to track hours of service rigorously and accurately. The role requires excellent communication with sales teams and supervisors to report any field problems or safety concerns promptly.
Ecolab provides exceptional support for its drivers, including assigned new vehicles and equipment, premium hotel accommodations and meals while traveling, and safety training programs to continuously enhance driving skills and safety awareness. Drivers benefit from competitive hourly pay averaging $35 per hour, a $4,000 signing bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package effective from day one. This includes medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, pension plans, stock options, paid time off, and other employee support programs. The company values work-life balance by ensuring drivers are home on holidays and have paid time off. The role sometimes requires overnight deliveries but emphasizes employee well-being and safety in every aspect.
Candidates for this role must have a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with no restrictions on HazMat and Tanker endorsements, a minimum of three years of commercial driving experience, and the ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting a minimum of 50 pounds and maneuvering large vehicles in tight spaces. Knowledge of DOT regulations, hazardous material transport compliance, and safety procedures is essential. Preferred candidates will have previous bulk tanker experience, especially with hazardous chemicals.
Joining Ecolab means becoming part of a trusted organization that values inclusion, equality, and the professional growth of its employees. The company is committed to accommodating applicants with disabilities and maintaining a fair and respectful workplace that advances EEO and Affirmative Action principles. Ecolab also adheres to strict customer requirements and local laws relating to background screens, drug testing, and COVID-19 vaccination policies where applicable. This Customer Delivery Specialist opportunity is ideal for a safety-conscious driver looking to build a rewarding career with a global industry leader.
