Job Description
Barr-Nunn Transportation is a well-established dry van truckload carrier with a rich history dating back to 1982. Operating a fleet of about 600 tractors and approximately 2,150 trailers, the company has grown to become a reliable and respected name within the freight transportation industry. Barr-Nunn specializes in providing outstanding on-time pickup and delivery services catering to major e-commerce companies and various other businesses that demand strict adherence to schedules. The company’s commitment to excellence is highlighted by its impressive safety record and award-winning on-time service, which enables it to maintain long-term, profitable relationships with top-tier shippers. Over decades of operation, Barr-Nunn Transportation has earned a reputation for stability, reliability, and professionalism in a sector known for its competitive pressures and frequent turnovers. For drivers, this means working for an employer focused on safety, quality service, and sustainable growth, making it an excellent opportunity for long-term career development in trucking and logistics.
Currently, Barr-Nunn Transportation is actively hiring CDL-A solo drivers for both over-the-road (OTR) and regional routes. This is an exciting opportunity for professional truck drivers who want to maximize their earning potential while enjoying flexible home time arrangements. The company offers some of the best pay and benefits in the industry, with top 50 percent of its drivers earning $97,500 or more annually and an average salary range between $85,000 and $100,000 per year. Drivers benefit from a competitive cent-per-mile pay scale ranging from 64 to 73 cents, a transition bonus for qualified candidates, and a lucrative truck driver referral program that rewards employees with bonuses between $6,400 and $7,700 in addition to 4 days of paid time off. Barr-Nunn’s solo routes provide flexibility for drivers by offering both regional and long-haul OTR routes according to their preferences. Regional drivers get to stay closer to home and spend more time with family, while OTR drivers enjoy the opportunity to travel across the country and earn a premium for their efforts. Barr-Nunn’s dedication to driver comfort and safety is further reflected by its policies, such as no inward-facing cameras and the provision of well-equipped, late-model tractors outfitted with amenities including TVs, microwaves, refrigerators, inverters, speed governors, tracking and cargo sensors.
Aside from competitive compensation, drivers receive excellent benefits such as Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance, free $10,000 life insurance, and a robust 401(k) plan with company match. The company also implements safety-based pay raises, CSA safety bonuses every 90 days for drivers who maintain safe driving records (with higher bonuses available for those with hazmat endorsements), detention pay after only one hour, and orientation pay. Furthermore, drivers accrue paid time off faster than typical industry standards, earning between 3 to 9 days of PTO based on mileage accumulation. Barr-Nunn’s professional and responsive dispatch team ensures that drivers are supported while on the road. Their mission is to foster a respectful, positive working environment where driver safety, satisfaction, and retention are prioritized.
