This particular role is focused on the position of Shuttle Driver, a critical function within the operational framework of Palmer Food Services. The Shuttle Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of trailers according to predetermined routes, ensuring that freight is properly loaded, secured, and handled with care. This role requires adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies to maintain operational compliance and uphold the company's reputation for dependability and excellence.
A successful candidate will be involved in daily inspections of vehicles and trailers, reporting any safety issues, and performing hook and unhook procedures following established safety guidelines. Additionally, they will assist in fueling trucks and trailers, handle loading and unloading duties using forklifts and pallet jacks, and support warehouse crews as needed. Physical demands for this position include the ability to lift heavy products, climb in and out of commercial vehicles regularly, and work in various weather conditions.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or GED
- clean CDL Class A license
- double endorsement preferred
- minimum of 1-2 years prior commercial delivery experience
- food service and refer experience preferred
- must have the ability to lift product weighing up to 100 lbs on a consistent basis
- required to climb in and out of a commercial vehicle and operate in a safe manner
- must be able to walk bend lift on a regular basis

Job Duties
- perform all required safety checks including inspections of tractor truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- report all safety issues and or repairs as needed
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- drive and deliver trailers according to predetermined route schedule
- perform hook unhook procedures per safety guidelines
- park and store tractor trailers in designated areas
- ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and or secured all times
- complete daily record of hours of service and enter in login in accordance with Federal DOT state and company requirements
- perform general housekeeping duties in tractor loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required
- perform all other related duties as assigned
- assist with fueling trucks and trailers as needed
- ensure proper fueling procedures are followed and that all equipment is safely and adequately fueled
- load and unload trucks on forklift and ride on pallet jack
- assist the night warehouse crew with moving trucks when present
- required to work even if weather is bad
