Job Description

Sysco Corporation is a leading global foodservice distribution company dedicated to providing high-quality food products and exceptional service to its valued customers. With a vast network of distribution centers and a customer-centric approach, Sysco plays a crucial role in the foodservice industry by delivering fresh and diverse products to restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and other foodservice operators. The company is renowned for its commitment to operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and innovative supply chain solutions that support its extensive client base. As an industry leader, Sysco offers opportunities for career growth, skill development, and a dynamic workplace culture that values teamwork and professionalism.

The Driver position at Sysco is a vital role responsible for daily route operations that involve multiple stops and the careful handling of product deliveries. This role is customer-facing and requires the driver to operate away from their primary operating company location at a designated domiciled site closer to the customers' marketplace. The driver’s primary duties include loading packages onto hand trucks, unloading products at specific customer locations according to the route assigned by the Transportation Department Manager, and managing cross-dock model picking where they load trucks from nightly deliveries. The position demands not only efficient route management but also attentive customer service skills to accurately verify deliveries and address any discrepancies or complaints with professionalism.

Drivers will be expected to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving packages weighing up to 100 pounds and navigating various delivery environments, which might include stairs, ramps, docks, and inclement weather conditions. Additionally, drivers are responsible for conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations to ensure vehicle safety and performance throughout their routes. The role may also involve assisting with loading trucks and palletizing products as directed by supervisors or managers. This position is essential for maintaining Sysco’s high standards of service, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction, making it a critical component of the supply chain and distribution team.

Sysco emphasizes safety, communication, and customer relations in all driver duties. Drivers must manage equipment carefully, adhere strictly to driver safety rules, and maintain clear communication regarding route status, delivery issues, and customer interactions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and a friendly, professional demeanor when interacting with customers. This role offers opportunities for those with a commercial driver's license to apply their skills in a supportive and structured environment where their contributions directly impact customer experience and company success.
