This particular role focuses on the pickup and delivery of cargo to and from various destinations, typically within the proximity of ABF Freight's consolidation and distribution centers. The position plays a critical role in ensuring cargo is handled efficiently and safely, aligned with company standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include the loading and unloading of trailers using techniques, technology, and procedures consistent with dock worker standards, potentially requiring operation of forklifts as needed. The role entails varied duties that can include check-in procedures, vehicle inspection (tractor/trailer), tractor setup, and both cargo pickup and delivery. Candidates should be prepared for flexible schedules as duty and shift assignments may vary by terminal location, including potential day and night shifts or weekend work. The job requires diligent completion of routine paperwork, including accurate logging of loading sheets, to maintain operational efficiency and compliance. Successful candidates must meet certain educational, certification, and experience requirements, and demonstrate a safe, dependable work ethic as well as the ability to meet medical and drug screening standards set by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
