Sysco is recognized for creating rewarding career opportunities with competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits, ensuring employees feel valued and supported in their roles.
The available role is for a Route Delivery Driver, an essential position within Sysco's transportation department. The Route Delivery Driver is responsible for executing daily delivery routes efficiently and securely, handling product loading and unloading, and ensuring accurate delivery and customer satisfaction. This position offers an average starting salary of $65,000, with the potential to earn over $78,000 based on performance, experience, and incentive bonuses. Position schedules include Tuesday through Saturday or Monday through Friday, with some early morning start times between 12 AM and 4 AM. A significant benefit of this role is the opportunity to be home daily after completing 10-hour routes, allowing a healthy work-life balance and family time.
Candidates for this position must be comfortable driving into New York City and have a CDL A license, along with one to two years of preferred route delivery experience. The job requires a strong safety-first mindset and professionalism, as well as the physical ability to frequently lift and move packages weighing up to 100 pounds. Daily duties include loading and unloading products using hand trucks, verifying deliveries with customers, communicating any discrepancies, and maintaining adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies. Drivers operate in a cross-dock model, picking up loaded trucks from nightly deliveries and returning empty trucks to the assigned lot. Occasional assistance with palletizing products or loading trucks is also required.
This role offers comprehensive benefits, including paid vacation and holidays, healthcare coverage effective shortly after hire, retirement plan options, employee discount programs, and opportunities to purchase discounted Sysco stock. Sysco’s supportive work environment encourages career growth, provides consistent schedules, and ensures drivers return home daily to spend quality time with their families.
