With a commitment to delivering quality and service, the company’s experienced team—including sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts—works closely with clients to enhance their business operations through advice on menu development, product selection, and operational strategy. This collaborative approach not only ensures the delivery of delicious food products but also empowers independent restaurant owners and foodservice operators to achieve their goals and succeed in competitive markets.
Performance Foodservice operates with a focus on safety, inclusivity, and employee growth, offering a professional work environment that values respect, rewards, and recognition. Employees enjoy competitive pay, including an attractive pay range after training from $85,000 to $110,000 or more annually, alongside a generous $7,500 sign-on bonus upon completion of training (subject to eligibility restrictions). Work schedules for this position run Sunday to Thursday nights with dispatch starting at 9 pm until duties are completed. The company also provides day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and numerous other career advancement opportunities.
The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is crucial to maintaining America’s food distribution system. Drivers serve as the vital link between the company and its customers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of food and related products. This position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Drivers are responsible for adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards to guarantee safe transportation and delivery.
Beyond the technical operation of vehicles, the CDL-A Driver also represents the company’s brand, fostering professional relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive pre- and post-trip safety inspections, ensuring freight is properly loaded and secured, completing detailed delivery documentation, handling cash or check collections when required, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of equipment and trailers. The role demands vigilance in safety compliance, including filing accurate records of hours of service and promptly addressing any safety hazards.
Performance Foodservice values integrity and accountability, expecting drivers to contribute as key team members who are proactive in communication and committed to meeting delivery schedules efficiently. This role offers not only a rewarding career with substantial financial compensation but also the opportunity to play a meaningful role in foodservice logistics, supporting local communities and businesses nationwide. The company’s dedication to equal employment opportunity (EEO) and inclusiveness ensures a supportive working environment for all employees.
