Job Description

The hiring establishment is a reputable logistics and delivery company specializing in the transportation and distribution of products to a wide range of customers. With a commitment to timeliness, safety, and exceptional customer service, the company operates daily delivery routes, ensuring the efficient handling and transportation of goods. The company employs a cross-dock delivery model where late-night deliveries are sorted and loaded onto trucks for timely daytime distribution. Drivers are an integral part of the organization, serving as the critical link between the company and its customers. This is a customer-facing role that often requires drivers to work away from the operating company's main facility and operate from a designated domiciled location closer to the customer's marketplace. This strategic placement improves route efficiency and customer service response times.

The role of the delivery driver is comprehensive and dynamic. Each day, drivers follow assigned routes with strategically organized stops, ensuring that packages are unloaded and delivered in the precise order designated by the Transportation Department Manager. This position requires the physical ability to load and unload products weighing up to 100 pounds, often navigating ramps, stairs, and docks under various weather conditions. Attention to detail is important as drivers verify deliveries with customers, secure appropriate signatures, and handle any discrepancies or returns professionally by communicating with management. Safety is paramount, and drivers perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections following Department of Transportation regulations and company policies.

Drivers are also responsible for maintaining the operational condition of their vehicles, organizing trucks efficiently for deliveries, and occasionally assisting with loading, palletizing, and other tasks as directed by supervisors or managers. The position demands excellent customer relations and problem-solving skills, as driver interactions directly influence the company's reputation and customer loyalty. Effective communication is a must, including the ability to report issues, document delivery concerns, and adjust routes dynamically for maximum efficiency.

This full-time role typically requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License, Class B at minimum, with Class A preferred. Candidates should have experience driving straight trucks and be proficient in English for communication and regulatory purposes. The job involves demanding physical activity and requires adaptability to various working environments, including confined spaces and outdoor weather conditions.

Overall, this delivery driver role is crucial to the smooth operation of the company’s distribution network, necessitating a strong work ethic, attention to detail, customer service orientation, physical stamina, and strict adherence to safety standards.
