At McLane, the CDL-A Delivery Driver position is crucial in maintaining the high standards of service and safety the company is known for. Drivers are expected to be dependable and safety-conscious professionals who handle the transportation of goods across various routes, ensuring timely and secure deliveries. This role offers an attractive pay range from $65,000 to $95,000 per year, highlighting McLane's recognition of the skills and dedication involved in the job. In addition to competitive pay, McLane offers a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 depending on experience, providing a strong initial incentive for new drivers. The pay structure is comprehensive, compensating drivers hourly and based on miles, stops, and cases handled, reflecting the varied nature of delivery duties. Drivers can expect varying route schedules, designed to balance operational needs with driver well-being, including getting drivers home safely and more often, which is a core commitment by McLane.
The CDL-A Delivery Driver role involves a variety of responsibilities to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of goods. Key tasks include pre-trip and post-trip tractor-trailer inspections for defects, submission of DOT inspection reports, thorough inspection of delivery documents and keys, and the physical unloading of product into customer premises. Mastery of commercial driving regulations and vehicle handling skills are essential to navigate diverse road and customer site conditions. The driver is also responsible for accurately maintaining delivery logs via manual or electronic systems like Peoplenet, documenting key details such as product temperatures and any delivery exceptions. This attention to detail and adherence to regulatory standards ensure that McLane continues to meet safety and compliance requirements critical to the distribution industry.

Effective communication skills in English, including reading, writing, and comprehension, are also mandatory, supporting the safe and efficient execution of job duties. Drivers who join McLane will find a supportive and inclusive work environment that values adaptability, dedication, and a safety-focused mindset. Comprehensive benefits become available from day one, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as FSA/HSA options and company-paid life insurance. Additional benefits include paid holidays, vacation time, sick leave accrual, 401(k) profit sharing after 90 days, pet insurance, maternity/paternity leave, employee assistance programs, discount options, and tuition reimbursement.
