The Driver - SCM position at Core-Mark plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of America’s food supply chain. This role involves driving tractor-trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food service products safely and punctually to customers, thereby supporting the core operations of the company. Drivers are not just delivery personnel; they represent the face of Core-Mark to customers, fostering strong, lasting relationships by demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and excellent customer service.

Working from Tuesday to Friday, the role provides regular daily home time and involves dispatches between 4am and 6am. The salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $75,000 per year, starting at a training pay of $22.50 per hour, then transitioning to supply chain management pay. The position requires adherence to stringent Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring safety and compliance at all times. Drivers are responsible for performing required pre-trip and post-trip safety checks on vehicles, verifying load security, accurately documenting deliveries, and handling customer transactions when necessary. They must also maintain cleanliness and orderliness of their trucks and trailers and complete all paperwork associated with their routes.

This role demands physical stamina to hand-lift freight and utilize equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move products of varying weights, sometimes up to 90 pounds. Applicants must possess a valid CDL-A license, be at least 21 years old, maintain a clean motor vehicle report over the past three years, and meet all applicable state certification requirements. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six or more months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past three years
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT health card or be able to secure a new one
  • Ability to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases and freight of varying size and weight

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Reports all safety issues and repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products loaded
  • Completes all required paperwork associated with freight accurately
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to the predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured appropriately
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
