This role centers on the position of a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, a vital contributor to the country’s food supply chain. Delivery Drivers at Core-Mark fulfill essential duties by ensuring that goods are transported timely, safely, and in excellent condition to retail customers. Working as the company’s frontline representatives, these drivers help build and maintain strong relationships with customers, embodying the company’s core values of respect, professionalism, and reliability. The position offers competitive pay ranging between $70,000 and $75,000 annually with a work schedule from Tuesday through Friday, dispatching early between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., and the advantage of being home daily.

The drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop deliveries. Responsibilities extend beyond driving and include performing mandatory safety inspections compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, reporting any safety issues promptly, securing cargo properly, ensuring accurate documentation, and managing billing and customer interactions professionally. Drivers also provide essential support by assisting with unloading orders, managing returns, and maintaining clean and safe equipment and loading areas.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • At least 6 months of commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Compliance with state licensing and certification requirements
  • Clean motor vehicle report for last 3 years
  • Successful completion of post-offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Passing of road test
  • Valid or attainable DOT Health Card
  • Physical ability to hand-lift and use equipment for moving freight up to 90 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and takes appropriate action as needed
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches the preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings them to the driver check-in and completes necessary paperwork
  • Unloads all equipment, materials and removes trash from trailers as required
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
  • Secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
