Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a premier broadline distributor specializing in foodservice solutions across various local markets. The company prides itself on fostering close and collaborative relationships with diverse customers ranging from independent restaurants and hotels to healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a dedicated team that includes sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts, Performance Foodservice offers tailored advice on improving operations, menu development, product selections, and operational strategies. This customer-focused approach helps independent restaurant owners and food service operators achieve their goals by delivering not just quality food products but comprehensive business support.
As a driver with Performance Foodservice, you will play a vital role in the food supply chain, ensuring timely and safe deliveries of food and food-related products to customers. Your responsibility will extend beyond simple delivery; you will be the face of the company, building lasting relationships with customers through professionalism and reliability. This role requires operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on various routes, including intrastate and interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight runs. You will manage deliveries by adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety guidelines, performing safety inspections, and maintaining accurate delivery documentation.
This position offers a competitive salary starting at a minimum of $350 per day, with a work schedule of 4-5 days per week based on business needs, excluding Sundays. Shifts average 10-12 hours and include dispatch times between midnight and 5 AM depending on the assigned route. Beyond compensation, employees benefit from an inclusive and safe work environment inclusive of Day 1 Health and Wellness benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. The company also values growth opportunities, recognizing the essential nature of the drivers’ work within America’s food distribution system.
Your duties will encompass pre and post-trip safety checks such as inspecting vehicles to meet DOT standards, reporting safety hazards or repair needs, and accurately completing all required paperwork. Once on the route, you will ensure product delivery according to schedule and route, unload and place products into designated customer storage areas, verify items with customers, collect payments when necessary, and manage returns and damaged goods following company policy. Additionally, general housekeeping of assigned equipment and work areas will be expected, alongside continuous cooperation with co-workers and management to serve the company’s best interests.
Performance Foodservice is committed to equal employment opportunities and maintains a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect, providing an environment that supports diversity and inclusion. If you have a valid CDL A license, commercial driving experience, and a commitment to safety and customer service, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to be part of a foundational industry supporting the nation’s food supply chain.
