As a premier provider of LTL transportation services, SMT is committed to delivering exceptional customer service while prioritizing safety and efficiency. The company operates a comprehensive network that supports local, regional, and dedicated transportation solutions, which enables SMT to offer diverse career opportunities tailored to meet the varying needs of professional drivers. Known for its stability and industry expertise, SMT provides a supportive and rewarding work environment that values and invests in its employees.
The Delivery Driver position at Southwestern Motor Transport is designed for experienced drivers who are safety-conscious and dedicated to premium service delivery. This role involves picking up and delivering freight within the local Austin area, allowing drivers to return home daily and enjoy weekends off, which is a significant benefit for work-life balance. The position requires a minimum of one year of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience within the past three years, emphasizing the company’s high standards for professional competency and safety. Drivers must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Hazmat endorsement to ensure compliance with federal transportation regulations and safety protocols. Delivering freight safely and on schedule is critical, as is maintaining consistent communication with supervisors and colleagues to facilitate smooth operations.
SMT rewards its drivers with industry-leading pay and comprehensive benefits which enhance their personal and professional wellbeing. Drivers benefit from health, dental, and life insurance plans, profit sharing and 401(k) retirement plans, as well as vacation and holiday pay. The company offers weekly pay with direct deposit, further adding convenience and financial security for its team members. The role involves important responsibilities such as performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, backing into docks multiple times daily, loading and unloading freight, and ensuring all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations are strictly followed. Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times is also a key requirement, reflecting the company’s commitment to quality and professionalism.
Overall, the Delivery Driver position at Southwestern Motor Transport represents an excellent opportunity for experienced CDL A drivers seeking a home-daily role that offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a structured schedule that respects personal time.
