Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States, renowned for its expansive product offerings and commitment to exceptional customer service. As one of the largest food distributors, US Foods has built a strong reputation through its culture of promoting from within, excellent training programs, and a continual focus on improvement to meet evolving industry needs and customer expectations. The company’s comprehensive distribution network delivers a wide variety of food products to restaurants, healthcare, hospitality, and other foodservice operations across the country, ensuring that clients receive consistent, timely, and accurate deliveries. US Foods values its workforce, emphasizing a collaborative and service-oriented culture that supports employee growth and advancement opportunities.

The role of a US Foods Driver is a crucial component of the company’s operational success and customer satisfaction. This full-time position primarily involves safely operating delivery trucks to transport food products to customer locations, adhering to scheduled delivery times, and professionally representing the company during all customer interactions. Drivers are responsible for unloading products using equipment such as two-wheelers, pallet jacks, or by hand and placing them in designated customer storage areas to maintain product integrity. Verification of delivery accuracy is essential, including obtaining proper customer signatures and handling collections or payments when necessary. In addition to driving, this role requires performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition, contributing to overall safety on the road and in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.

Physical stamina and reliability are key attributes for a US Foods Driver, as the job demands repetitive lifting and carrying of products weighing between 20 to over 80 pounds throughout each shift. Drivers must be comfortable working in varied weather conditions and navigating frequent stops, averaging more than ten stops per shift. The position typically operates Monday through Friday with early morning start times between 3 to 6 AM, and occasional Saturdays as needed based on operational demands. Compensation for this role is competitive, offering a base hourly rate of $29.96, reflective of relevant experience, education, and location variables.

Candidates seeking to join US Foods as a Driver must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid CDL Class A license issued by the state of their legal residence, complete with the necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications. Experience requirements include a minimum of six months of commercial driving in any industry or at least three months in food and beverage delivery. Though not mandatory, the ability to operate manual transmission vehicles is preferred and may be required in select locations. Strong communication skills in English are necessary for interacting effectively with customers, understanding traffic regulations, responding to inquiries, and accurately completing required documentation.

The company mandates registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a secure online database that tracks CDL and CLP holders’ drug and alcohol violations, ensuring compliance with federal safety regulations. US Foods is committed to creating a work environment that encourages integrity, reliability, and positive relationships both on and off the road. The company's cultural beliefs and values promote a supportive team atmosphere, fostering growth and rewarding dedication through their Total Rewards program, which respects and incentivizes their associates' hard work. Together, US Foods and its drivers strive to help customers succeed while supporting drivers in building rewarding careers within the foodservice industry.
