Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor and a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), plays an essential role in America’s food distribution system. The company fosters deep relationships with a diverse clientele, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Their team, comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts, collaborates closely with customers by offering advice on menu development, product selection, and strategies to optimize operational efficiency. Known for delivering quality food along with professional guidance, Performance Foodservice empowers independent restaurant owners and other clients to fulfill their business goals and elevate their service quality.

Within this dynamic environment, the delivery driver position is vital to the logistical chain that ensures food products reach customers safely, timely, and in optimal condition. While delivering products, drivers represent the face of Performance Foodservice, building lasting customer relationships through professional interactions and dependable service. This role includes driving tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop operations. The position requires adherence to Department of Transportation regulations and company safety policies to promote a secure working atmosphere.

The position offers competitive daily pay of a minimum of $350, with work schedules typically comprising 4-5 days per week based on business demand and no work on Sundays. Shifts usually span 10 to 12 hours, with dispatch times between midnight and 5 a.m. depending on the assigned route. Employees benefit from an inclusive, safe work culture that emphasizes rewards, recognition, and respect for each team member. Additionally, Performance Foodservice provides a comprehensive benefits package from day one, including health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. The company encourages personal growth and offers numerous opportunities for career advancement while performing this critical service function.

Delivery drivers at Performance Foodservice have varied responsibilities, from conducting safety inspections and equipment checks to managing the physical loading and unloading of products. They ensure freight is properly loaded and secured, complete accurate shipment paperwork, confirm delivery accuracy, and handle customer interactions professionally. The role requires physical strength and stamina as well, such as the ability to hand-lift and use equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to manage product cases of varying weights, ranging generally from 10 to 35 pounds and sometimes up to 60 to 90 pounds depending on the route location. Drivers must maintain daily records of hours of services, comply with DOT regulations, and perform housekeeping duties to ensure that vehicles and loading docks remain clean and organized.

As committed frontline workers, these drivers contribute significantly to the efficient operation of the food supply chain, ensuring that food service operations within communities continue seamlessly. This role is ideal for candidates who value responsibility, customer service, and safety. Whether delivering to bustling urban areas or remote locations, the driver’s punctuality, professionalism, and adherence to safety guidelines directly impact the success of Performance Foodservice's mission to support America’s food distribution network.
