Serving an extensive range of customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries, Performance Foodservice is dedicated to empowering local businesses through its comprehensive food distribution network. The company prides itself on building strong, lasting relationships with clients by offering not just products, but also expert advice on menu development, operational strategies, and improving overall foodservice operations. This makes Performance Foodservice more than just a supplier; it’s a trusted partner to many thriving food establishments across the country.
The company’s commitment extends to creating a workplace culture that supports growth, safety, inclusivity, and respect. Employees are recognized as the backbone of its success, and the organization provides a supportive environment along with competitive pay and benefits. These benefits include day-one health and wellness coverage, a robust employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off among other rewards. This culture of recognition and respect fosters a workplace where employees feel valued and motivated to contribute to the company’s mission.
The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver role at Performance Foodservice is essential in ensuring the seamless delivery of products that support America's food supply chain. Drivers are more than just transporters of goods; they are vital representatives of the company interacting daily with customers and suppliers alike. Their role requires driving tractor trailers or straight trucks over local, intrastate, interstate, and over-the-road routes. This may include shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop deliveries.
Delivery drivers are responsible for maintaining the quality and timeliness of food and related products while adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. The position involves working shifts averaging 10 to 12 hours, typically 4 to 5 days per week with split days off and no Sunday work, accommodating business needs. Drivers dispatch between 12 AM and 5 AM based on their assigned routes.
The daily responsibilities encompass conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securing freight properly, ensuring accurate paperwork, and maintaining safety reporting. Drivers also unload goods, communicate professionally with customers, collect payment when necessary, and manage customer returns. Their attention to detail and commitment to safety safeguards the reputation and operational success of Performance Foodservice.
This role is ideal for candidates with a valid CDL Class A license, a clean driving record, and the physical capability to handle freight that can range from lighter cases to heavier products requiring lift gate and two-wheeler equipment. It presents opportunities for career growth within a company that values essential workers who play a critical role in fueling America’s food industry. Performance Foodservice fosters a safe, inclusive work environment built on teamwork and mutual respect, making this an excellent opportunity for those seeking a rewarding career in logistics and delivery driving.
