The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice plays a fundamental role in maintaining the efficiency of America’s food distribution system. This role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-related products safely and on time across both intrastate and interstate routes. Drivers can expect to perform local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes, including drive and drop assignments. The role offers competitive compensation, with an annual salary averaging $73,000 and a $10,000 sign-on bonus (terms apply). Additionally, the position provides a healthy work-life balance with home daily shifts from 3 am to 5 am on select weekdays (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday).
The CDL-A Driver must conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicles and trailers to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and ensure company safety standards are met. Safety is paramount, requiring immediate reporting of any hazards, performing damage control checks, verifying load security, and maintaining precise, legible paperwork for every delivery. Drivers are expected to build professional relationships as the face of the company while delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities also include loading and unloading products, handling returns, operating equipment like hand trucks and lift gates to manage freight weighing up to 90 pounds, and maintaining cleanliness of trailers and workspaces.
Performance Foodservice offers a comprehensive benefits package from day one, including health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and much more. The company fosters an inclusive and respectful workplace culture that promotes employee growth, safety, and recognition. This role is ideal for candidates who are safety-conscious, customer-focused, and eager to contribute to a vital part of the food supply chain that supports communities across the nation. Performance Foodservice is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer, welcoming candidates of diverse backgrounds to help join in their mission to deliver quality food products and support local businesses.
