Job Description
Performance Foodservice, part of Performance Food Group (PFG), operates as a broadline distributor serving a diverse range of local customers scattered across multiple foodservice sectors. These customers include independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on a collaborative team approach that unites sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts dedicated to forging strong, lasting relationships with their clientele. Beyond merely delivering products, Performance Foodservice commits to advising customers on improving operational efficiencies, menu development, product selection, and strategic execution. This comprehensive service offering ensures the company supports not only the supply needs of its customers but also their broader business goals.
As a leading distributor in the foodservice industry, Performance Foodservice emphasizes a culture that values safety, respect, and mutual recognition, fostering an inclusive work environment that rewards employee contributions and supports professional growth. Employees are encouraged to develop within the organization, supported by extensive benefits and career advancement opportunities that position them well for continued success within America’s food distribution system.
The CDL-A driver role at Performance Foodservice is a critical component of the company’s logistics and delivery operations. This full-time position operates primarily Monday through Friday with early morning dispatch and includes two weekly layovers. With an annual average compensation exceeding $80,000 and a $10,000 sign-on bonus (terms apply), these drivers play an essential role in the timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products across intrastate and interstate routes. Responsibilities encompass operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various route types — including local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, drive and drop routes — and require strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Drivers represent the face of the company, directly interacting with customers and ensuring excellent service through professional communication and reliable delivery performance. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, from conducting safety inspections and vehicle maintenance checks to verifying freight integrity and completing all necessary documentation. CDL-A drivers contribute significantly to the smooth functioning of Performance Foodservice’s supply chain, ensuring products reach customers in optimal condition and providing the essential service that underpins the foodservice industry's success.
Aside from a competitive salary and benefits package, Performance Foodservice offers a safe, respectful work environment and access to health and wellness benefits starting on day one. Additional offerings include an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, all structured to support employees' wellbeing and professional development. The company’s commitment to equal opportunity employment further underscores its mission to maintain a diverse and inclusive workforce, empowering all employees to thrive.
This CDL-A driver position is ideal for individuals with a commitment to safety, a strong work ethic, and a passion for customer service. Performance Foodservice values drivers who take pride in their work and who understand their role as vital contributors to the food distribution network in the United States. The company seeks candidates with a valid CDL-A license, a clean driving record, and the physical capability to manage freight handling demands. Those with experience in foodservice distribution, electronic log systems, and customer service skills may find enhanced success in this role. Overall, this position offers a rewarding career opportunity within an industry-leading organization dedicated to food quality, operational excellence, and employee satisfaction.
