This team works closely with customers to improve operational efficiency, develop menus, select the best products, and apply strategic operational guidance tailored to individual business needs. Performance Foodservice prides itself on fostering strong relationships with its customers, standing out not just as a supplier but as a trusted partner that supports the entire food ecosystem.
The company promotes a culture of safety, inclusivity, and respect, offering employees competitive pay and comprehensive benefits starting from day one. Employees enjoy perks such as an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, alongside other health and wellness benefits. Growth opportunities abound within the organization, offering a pathway for employees to develop their careers while playing a vital role in America's food distribution system. Performance Food Group also prioritizes equal employment opportunity and maintains a strict non-discriminatory policy to ensure fair treatment and an inclusive working environment for all employees.
The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver position at Performance Foodservice is essential in maintaining the integrity of the country’s food supply chain. Delivery drivers play a critical role in ensuring food products are delivered punctually and in good condition while serving as the face of the company to build and sustain lasting customer relationships. The position offers an average annual salary ranging from $75,000 to $100,000 or more, with uncapped pay potential. Employment involves a typical workweek of four to five days, with additional days available. Drivers operate on local route packages with the opportunity for home nightly routes or layover routes involving up to two nights out per week.
As a Delivery Driver, the individual will be responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks both within state and interstate, including local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. The driver’s duties go beyond merely transporting goods; they must perform thorough safety inspections before and after trips, ensure all deliveries comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maintain accurate documentation, and uphold the company’s safety standards. Interaction with customers, vendors, and coworkers must be professional and courteous, maintaining the company’s strong reputation and commitment to exceptional service.
This role requires meticulous attention to detail when checking freight, verifying delivery accuracy, and securing loads for transport. Drivers must be capable of handling physically demanding tasks such as lifting products that weigh between 10 to 90 pounds, using equipment like hand trucks and lift gates efficiently and safely. All daily activities involve adhering to federal, state, and company requirements including hours of service logs and vehicle maintenance. Drivers are also expected to keep their equipment and work areas clean and organized, contributing to a safe and productive environment.
The company values safety above all, encouraging drivers to immediately report hazards, safety issues, and required repairs, ensuring a consistently secure work setting. There is also a $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, illustrating the company’s dedication to attracting qualified, committed professionals to its team. Overall, joining Performance Foodservice as a Delivery Driver means becoming part of a respected and forward-looking organization that supports its employees and customers alike, delivering excellence every mile of the way.
