Job Description

Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a prominent leader in the convenience retail industry, offering fresh and broad-line distribution solutions across the United States and Canada. As part of a Fortune 150 company, Core-Mark has a significant market presence, generating over $23 billion in revenue, underscoring its strong industry position and commitment to excellence. The company prides itself on empowering its customers, employees, and communities, providing innovative product programs and dependable supply chain services. Core-Mark supports a diverse and inclusive workplace, ensuring equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, national origin, gender identity, age, disability, or veteran status. This culture of respect, inclusivity, and reward fosters employee satisfaction and retention, making it an employer of choice in the food service and distribution sectors.

The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver role at Core-Mark is a vital position within the company’s supply chain, ensuring that food products and related commodities reach customers in excellent condition and on schedule. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000 plus, with exact compensation details discussed during the interview process. Drivers work primarily on local routes with Monday through Friday schedules, starting around 6:00 am, returning home nightly with weekends off. This schedule supports a healthy work-life balance.

In this capacity, delivery drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on routes that may include intrastate, interstate, shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop deliveries. The driver is responsible for the safe handling, loading, transport, and delivery of food items, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines and company safety policies. A key part of the role involves building strong customer relationships through professional interaction and reliable service. Drivers also contribute as dependable team members within the warehouse and operational group, undertaking duties that support overall business success.

The role demands vigilance and attention to detail, particularly relating to vehicle inspections, safety checks, course compliance, and accurate record-keeping. Tasks include pre- and post-trip inspections, verifying freight security, managing paperwork such as delivery invoices and hours of service logs, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Drivers perform unloading operations, inventory verification, damage control processes, and the collection of payments if required. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the trailers and loading areas is also part of the daily routine. Practical physical capabilities are necessary, as drivers must handle lifting and moving product cases that typically weigh between 10 and 90 pounds, sometimes using equipment like two-wheelers or lift gates.

Core-Mark offers a robust benefits package designed to attract and retain top talent, including day-one health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. These benefits, combined with clear growth opportunities, position the delivery driver role as a rewarding career choice for individuals passionate about making a difference in the supply chain of America’s food industry. The company values safety, professionalism, and teamwork, providing a supportive environment where employees can thrive while contributing to the essential work of feeding communities.
