Job Description
West Side Beer Distributing is a respected distributor of beer products serving the Lansing area. As a local company, they specialize in delivering quality beer supplies to retailers, ensuring businesses maintain optimum stock and variety for their customers. Known for their commitment to excellent service, West Side Beer Distributing prides itself on fostering a positive work environment and offering competitive compensation packages. They provide full-time employment opportunities with schedules typically from Tuesday to Friday, encompassing a 40-hour workweek with occasional overtime. The company is also dedicated to employee well-being through comprehensive benefits offerings and retention bonuses designed to reward longevity and performance within the team.
The role of a CDL-A Delivery Driver at West Side Beer Distributing offers a vital position within the company that combines safe driving expertise with customer service and logistical responsibilities. Delivery drivers are charged with transporting beer products locally to retail accounts in the Lansing area, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries. This position demands professionalism as drivers directly represent the company to clientele and are often the face of West Side Beer Distributing. Beyond driving, the role includes a range of tasks such as maintaining product quality, verifying inventory accuracy, preparing invoices, collecting payments, and merchandising. Drivers must adhere strictly to company policies, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) guidelines, and supplier agreements.
A typical work schedule for this role consists of four days per week—Tuesday through Friday—across a standard 40-hour period, but may occasionally require overtime during busy periods. Annual earnings range from $55,000 to $65,000, reflecting the importance and demands of the position. To reward commitment, the company offers a retention bonus totaling $4,000, paid in two segments after 60 and 180 days of service respectively. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, 401K matching, and profit-sharing, underscoring West Side Beer Distributing's focus on supporting its employees' financial and health security.
Candidates for this role must exhibit strong communication skills and a customer-oriented mindset. The driver is expected to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, safely handle products with minimal damage, maintain accurate customer and inventory records, and report any issues promptly. Drivers frequently interact with customers, addressing queries related to product availability, pricing, and delivery scheduling. Participation in company and sales meetings is required to stay informed of product developments and market competition. The role is physically demanding, involving work in refrigerated conditions and handling inventory with proper lifting techniques. West Side Beer Distributing values reliability, accountability, and a proactive approach in its drivers to maintain operational excellence and uphold the company's reputation in the market.
