Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest food distributors in the United States, well-known for its extensive product offerings, excellent customer service, and commitment to promoting from within. The company is a leader within the food service industry, providing a wide range of customers including independent and chain restaurants, healthcare and hospitality facilities, and other foodservice establishments. US Foods prides itself on its strong culture built around continuous improvement, integrity, and collaborative spirit. The organization has a history of investing in employee training programs and creating career growth opportunities, making it an excellent place for career development in the food distribution sector. The company's focus on Total Rewards demonstrates its commitment to respecting and rewarding associates for their dedication and hard work.

The US Foods Driver role offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic company with a meaningful impact on the communities it serves. This position involves safely operating large commercial vehicles to ensure timely and accurate delivery of food products to customers. Routes run Monday through Saturday, typically requiring start times between 3 AM and 6 AM and demanding 30 to 70 hours per week. The position is slated to relocate to Aurora, Illinois, in mid-2026. Compensation for this role depends on experience, skills, education, function, location, and other factors, with an expected base pay range between $35.89 and $39.88 per hour.

This role requires physical stamina as it involves lifting and moving product weighing between 20 to over 80 pounds, often repetitively throughout the day. Drivers must be comfortable working in all weather conditions and carrying out frequent stops—sometimes more than ten per shift. Precise delivery accuracy and excellent customer service skills are essential to enhance the overall client experience, alongside handling payments and collections when necessary. Candidates will be involved in both pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance and safety on the road.

To be eligible, applicants must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with all necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications, and meet federal safety regulations, including registration to the FMCSA Clearinghouse. Previous commercial driving experience—especially within food and beverage distribution—is strongly preferred. The ability to operate manual transmissions may be necessary depending on location. Communication skills in English are required both for verbal interaction and documentation purposes.

US Foods values its drivers as vital representatives who uphold the company's values of integrity and reliability while fostering trusting relationships with customers. The company fosters an inclusive work environment where drivers are supported and encouraged to succeed both on and off the road. Benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and employee stock purchase options highlight the company’s investment in its workforce. If you are ready to build a rewarding career with a leader in food distribution, this driver position at US Foods offers an ideal opportunity to make a difference while advancing your professional goals.
