The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice offers a unique opportunity to play a critical part in America’s food supply chain. This position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-related products both within states (intrastate) and across state lines (interstate). Driving routes include local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight assignments, all aimed at ensuring timely and safe delivery. The position guarantees an annual salary of $96,200 and operates on a Monday through Friday schedule, which provides consistency and work-life balance with home daily.
Beyond driving, the CDL-A driver serves as a face of the company, responsible for building lasting customer relationships by delivering exceptional service and representing the company’s values of safety, professionalism, and respect. The role requires performing inspections aligned with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, handling loading and unloading, verifying delivery accuracy, managing customer interactions including collecting payments when necessary, and maintaining proper documentation and records. Safety is paramount, with drivers expected to perform thorough vehicle checks, immediately report hazards, and adhere strictly to both DOT and company safety guidelines.
Performance Foodservice supports its drivers with a comprehensive benefits package from day one, including health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. The company fosters a safe and inclusive work environment founded on rewards, recognition, and respect.
