Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), dedicated to providing premium foodservice solutions to a diverse range of local customers. The company collaborates closely with independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries, fostering strong and lasting relationships through a specialized team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts. These professionals offer invaluable guidance on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning, making Performance Foodservice not just a supplier but a trusted partner in business growth and success. With a commitment to excellence, innovation, and community support, Performance Foodservice has cemented its reputation as a top choice for foodservice distribution.
This position offers a 4-5 day workweek with required availability Monday through Saturday, typically involving dispatch times between 3 am and 5 am. The role offers an earning potential exceeding $90,000 annually, reflecting the importance and demanding nature of the work. The company is seeking energetic, physically capable 'industrial athletes' ready to take on predominantly local routes, with occasional assignments requiring 1-2 day layovers. The role is pivotal within the food supply chain, as drivers are responsible for the timely and safe delivery of food and foodservice products to customers, representing the face of the company and building lasting customer relationships.
The Driver's primary duties include operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes. These routes may involve shuttle, overnight, drive-and-drop, or over-the-road (OTR) deliveries. The role demands adherence to stringent Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety standards ensuring the protection of freight and timely deliveries. Beyond driving, this position requires thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, rigorous safety checks, and comprehensive paperwork management associated with freight and deliveries.
Performance Foodservice offers a supportive and inclusive workplace culture that values safety, respect, and recognition. The company boasts an attractive benefits package, including Day 1 Health & Wellness Benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. Drivers are integral members of the team, collaborating with customers, vendors, and other employees to deliver exceptional service. The company promotes growth opportunities within a robust framework supporting America’s food distribution system, positioning this role as both essential and rewarding.
Safety and professionalism are paramount in this role. Drivers must efficiently handle loading and unloading, inspect freight for damage, secure trailers, and complete all necessary documentation. Customer interaction involves verification of deliveries and collection of payments when required, reflecting the trust and responsibility placed on drivers. Performance Foodservice emphasizes ongoing communication, teamwork, and a commitment to company values, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about logistics, customer service, and foodservice delivery excellence.
