The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is integral to the overall success of the company’s supply chain operations. Drivers play a critical role in ensuring that customers receive their orders safely, on time, and in proper condition. Beyond just transportation, drivers act as the face of the company, fostering long-lasting relationships with customers through professional, courteous, and timely service. This role includes driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on local, intrastate, and interstate routes, including over-the-road, shuttle, and night routes. The driver will be responsible for managing deliveries and pickups, unloading goods, handling paperwork, and adhering strictly to safety protocols and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Key responsibilities include performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety compliance, reporting any repair or safety concerns promptly, and maintaining accurate records of driving hours and shipment details. Drivers must ensure that freight is properly loaded, secured, and delivered to the designated customer storage areas, verifying delivery with customers and collecting payments as necessary. Tasks also involve performing damage control checks, scanning goods, loading customer returns, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment both inside the vehicle and at the loading dock.

This position requires early morning starts from Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays, reflecting the important and time-sensitive nature of the work. A sign-on bonus of $10,000 is offered to qualified candidates who have not been employed by a PFG company within the past six months.
