The role of a Delivery Driver with Performance Foodservice is a vital part of the food supply chain in America. These drivers play a crucial role in ensuring that food and food service products reach customers safely, on time, and in the best condition possible. As the face of the company to customers, delivery drivers are essential in building trustworthy and long-term relationships that reinforce the company’s reputation. This is a full-time position offering competitive pay between $80,000 and $85,000 annually, with a generous $10,000 sign-on bonus paid in two phases (after 90 days and after one year), contingent on company terms. The work schedule is typically Sunday through Thursday, starting after 7 pm, encompassing a 4 to 5-day workweek.
In this role, delivery drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight. Responsibilities involve delivering and unloading perishable and non-perishable food products while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety guidelines. Drivers conduct mandatory safety inspections before and after trips, maintain accurate delivery logs, perform proper loading and unloading, and ensure all paperwork and customer signatures are accurate and completed promptly.
Performance Foodservice is committed to safety first, requiring drivers to report any hazards immediately and conduct all operations in compliance with DOT and company policies. Drivers also manage freight security, handle returns, and maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards in their work areas. Requirements include a valid CDL-A license, a clean motor vehicle report for the past three years, ability to physically handle heavy product cases, successful passing of road tests, drug screening, and background checks, along with holding or obtaining a DOT Health Card.
