Drivers also play an important role in customer service, acting as the public face of Performance Foodservice by professionally communicating with customers, vendors, and coworkers to ensure deliveries meet customer expectations and any inquiries are addressed promptly.

Additional responsibilities include loading, securing, and unloading freight, verifying freight against shipping documentation, collecting payments where necessary, and maintaining detailed records of hours of service and delivery paperwork. Drivers must ensure all equipment and freight are secured properly at the end of each shift and participate in general housekeeping duties to keep trailers and dock areas tidy. This position requires individuals who are reliable, safety-conscious, customer-oriented, and capable of physical tasks such as lifting and operating equipment for handling products between 10 and 90 pounds.
