Job Description
Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a leading distributor in the convenience retail industry and a part of a Fortune 150 company. With over $23 billion in revenue, Core-Mark delivers fresh and broad-line solutions across the United States and Canada through its extensive distribution centers. The company is committed to empowering customers, employees, and communities by offering a robust product range, innovative programs, and comprehensive solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of its customers. Known for its strong reputation, Core-Mark fosters a safe, inclusive working environment that values culture, rewards, recognition, and respect, helping to establish it as an industry leader in food distribution services.
The Transportation Driver (SCM) position at Core-Mark offers a vital role within the country’s food supply chain. These drivers ensure that food and food service products arrive safely and timely to retail and foodservice customers. The role is full-time with a competitive salary range between $70,000 and $75,000 per year, including $22.50 per hour during training before transitioning to standard supply chain management pay. The workweek runs from Tuesday to Friday, with dispatch times between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., and drivers return home daily, allowing for a good work-life balance.
As the face of the company, delivery drivers not only transport products but foster strong, lasting relationships with customers by providing professional, courteous service. This role requires a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, including adherence to Department of Transportation regulations. Key responsibilities include conducting thorough safety inspections of vehicles, managing product loads securely, maintaining accurate records and paperwork, and ensuring deliveries are completed efficiently according to scheduled routes. Drivers also handle unloading goods, addressing product damages, collecting payments, and ensuring that all freight is properly secured at all times.
Core-Mark emphasizes growth opportunities within its ranks, aiming to support employees as they develop essential skills in logistics and supply chain operations. The company offers comprehensive benefit packages from day one, including health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, educational assistance, paid time off, career development opportunities, and a supportive culture. This role is ideal for candidates with a valid CDL-A license, a clean driving record, and experience in commercial driving, especially those with background in foodservice distribution and customer service. It also welcomes individuals capable of handling physically demanding tasks, such as lifting and operating equipment, throughout their shifts.
In summary, the Transportation Driver position at Core-Mark offers a rewarding career within a stable, respected industry leader focused on customer satisfaction, safety, and employee development. It represents a balance between competitive compensation, meaningful work, and comprehensive benefits, making it an attractive opportunity for dedicated drivers seeking a long-term role in food distribution logistics.
