The Driver - SCM (Supply Chain Management) role is a pivotal position within Core-Mark, responsible for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of food and food-related products. This position comes with a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $75,000 annually, starting at $22.50 per hour during training before transitioning to SCM pay. The workweek is scheduled from Tuesday to Friday, offering a dispatch window between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., with the advantage of being home daily.

In this role, drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks to execute intrastate and interstate deliveries on local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes. The position demands adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, completion of all necessary safety inspections, and meticulous handling of freight to maintain product integrity. Drivers serve as the face of Core-Mark to customers, fostering lasting relationships through professional communication and impeccable service.

The Driver - SCM is responsible for performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting safety issues promptly, and adhering strictly to company and DOT driving guidelines. Additionally, drivers manage freight loading and unloading, verify delivery accuracy with customers, collect payments when necessary, and complete all associated paperwork following company protocols. The role also involves routine equipment housekeeping to ensure trailers and vehicles are maintained in safe and clean conditions.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 6 months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Meet state licensing and/or certification requirements
  • Clean driving record for past 3 years
  • Pass a drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass driving road test
  • Obtain or currently hold a valid DOT health card
  • Ability to hand-lift product cases ranging from 10 to 90 pounds using equipment
  • Ability to work Tuesday through Friday with early morning dispatch between 4am and 6am
  • Must be able to work intrastate and interstate routes
  • Must adhere to Department of Transportation regulations and company policies

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or hold current valid DOT Health Card or be able to secure one
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate or other equipment to move and stack freight

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate actions
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and verify customer invoices
  • Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach the preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • Collect money where required
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
  • Secure equipment and complete paperwork at end of shift
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
