As part of this mission, the HHSC operates specialized facilities such as State Supported Living Centers, including the Richmond State Supported Living Center, which provides residential and support services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These centers are designed to ensure that people with medical fragility or behavioral challenges receive compassionate, high-quality care in safe and supportive environments.
The Richmond State Supported Living Center, located in Richmond, TX, is seeking to hire a full-time Laundry Technician III (CBW Operator). This position is essential in maintaining the safe and efficient processing of linens and laundry critical to the daily operation of the facility. The Laundry Technician III plays a senior operational role within the laundry department, managing commercial laundry equipment and assisting management in coordinating a team to meet production goals and safety standards.
The role offers a monthly salary range of $2,769.08 to $3,946.25, within the Texas A-11 salary group, working standard day shifts from Monday through Friday with some flexibility required for weekends, holidays, and extended hours. The position is nonexempt and requires regular onsite presence as telework is not eligible.
The Laundry Technician III is responsible for overseeing operations such as sorting, weighing, processing laundry using industrial washers, dryers, and pressing equipment, and ensuring all processes follow rigorous infection control and safety protocols. This role involves supervising and cross-training junior staff to ensure operational efficiency and safety. The employee also maintains comprehensive records of daily operations, equipment logs, cleaning schedules, and manages logistics such as vehicle operation for laundry delivery. The position requires cooperation with multiple internal stakeholders, including the Laundry Manager, Maintenance Staff, and Department Directors, to address equipment issues, training needs, and operational tasks.
Candidates will find this role fulfilling if they are motivated by workplace environments that prioritize teamwork, safety compliance, and the mission to improve lives through quality service support. HHSC values employees by offering a comprehensive benefits package including 100% paid health insurance for eligible full-time employees, a defined benefit pension plan, generous paid time off, and extensive opportunities for professional growth and advancement. The agency encourages diversity and equal employment opportunities and supports employees through various resources and career development programs.
This position requires practical knowledge of commercial laundry machinery and operational safety, physical stamina to handle light to heavy labor tasks, ability to lift and maneuver heavy loads safely, excellent organizational skills, and good communication ability to coordinate with teams effectively. Candidates must possess or obtain a valid Texas driver's license to operate state vehicles as part of their responsibilities.
Joining the Texas Health and Human Services Commission means becoming part of a team dedicated to public service and the betterment of Texas communities. The Laundry Technician III role is a critical frontline operation within the Richmond State Supported Living Center, directly contributing to the supportive environment for some of the state's most vulnerable residents.
